Daily Covid 19 Update for Tuesday December 8th  2020

FDOH reported 289 new test results and 27 positive cases today (9.3% positivity). Total number of cases is now 3502 (3225 residents)

Stay home if you are ill or are a close contact to a confirmed case. Avoid Crowds and Large Gatherings (especially indoors). Stay Apart 6 feet as much as possible, Wear a Mask and Wash Your Hands. Get tested if you have symptoms or have been exposed.

Dec 8th Covid Cases

It is with great sadness and regret that the Nassau County Health Department announces that four new COVID-19 deaths have been reported. Two were announced on the county reports on 12/6 and 12/7; these residents were a 62-year-old female and a 73-year-old female. In addition, two new COVID-19 deaths have been reported today. The residents were a 74-year-old male and 84-year-old female. This brings the total number of Nassau County resident COVID-19 deaths to 61. The Health Department sends our most sincere condolences to the family and loved ones during this difficult time. The Health Department continues to prioritize protecting the health and wellness of the community to ensure these solemn occasions are as rare as possible. Protecting the public’s health, however, is everyone’s responsibility. It is vital that the community continues to be vigilant in following public health recommendations to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 and to protect each other, including those most vulnerable. The FDOH Nassau County Health Department will not release additional details about the individual to respect the family’s privacy during this time of loss.

The Health Department is conducting case investigation and contact tracing on these cases.  The individuals will remain in isolation until released by public health. The total case count to date is 3,502 for Nassau County (3,225 residents, 277 non-FL residents).
